For pet lovers, our four-legged friends are just like members of the family. They bring lots of joy to our lives, and we want to make sure all their needs are taken care of in return. When our pets are ailing, it’s almost like having a sick child.
Trips to the vet are sometimes necessary, but they can be expensive. Luckily, we can treat many minor ailments without professional help. Here are some home helpful home remedies for your pets.
Fleas
* Add garlic to your pet’s food each day, or add sulphur once a week. Both of these will keep the fleas away.
* Give your pet black walnut hulls. You can find these in capsule form at most health food stores. This also repels ticks and mosquitoes.

In days gone many pet owners simply did not go on holidays! “Why”, I would ask them, and the answer was always the same: “Because we own a pet.”
Fortunately pet owners have more options than they used to. These days you can often take your pet with you. Otherwise you can leave it in a secure boarding kennel or cattery, or even commission a pet minding service to visit and service your pet in its familiar environment. Giving your dog a bath is important, but not as critical as most people seem to believe. If your dog is healthy, he really doesn’t need to be bathed more that once every few months, but most of us put them in the tub or under the hose more often to get rid of that doggie smell and look shinier.
Although most dogs do not enjoy getting a bath, it is a good bonding experience. They will appreciate the contact and attention they get from their owner.
This is also an excellent time to do some other required ‘maintenance’ tasks that we often forget about, such as ear cleaning, brushing their teeth, and checking for fleas and Ticks. It is much easier to do all these things at once since most dogs don’t enjoy sitting through these activities for very long.
