4 drops Ravensara

2 drops Labdanum

3 drops Lavender

Combine all ingredients, shake and store in a dark glass bottle. Apply a small amount directly to minor cuts, wounds, scrapes, irritations, insect bites, burns, bruises and post-operative incisions.

Mambo the Dog, a Victim of Animal Cruelty in Southern France

A horribly burned and disfigured young dog, Mambo, will have a rare opportunity to face his alleged tormentors in open court in December. Set on fire and left for dead on August 10 in the small French Pyrenees village of Espira-de-l’Agly in southern France, the dog suffered third-degree burns to 50 percent of his body.

A local police spokesman said: “Mambo was clearly looking for help when he went missing. He approached the pair because he is extremely friendly, but they showed him nothing but cruelty. He was held down by the woman, and then the man poured petrol [gasoline] over him, and set him alight. He was left for dead, but animal aid workers were alerted and managed to save him. He has made an amazing recovery.”

First aid treatment should never be used as a substitute to veterinary care. However, pet owners with good first aid training can definitely save pet’s life while waiting for professional help. Here are some of the usual pet emergencies with their first aid procedures:

Cuts
Small cuts can heal completely in a few days with simple rinsing of water are regular application of antibiotic ointment. More severe and deeper cuts may require stitching – his should be done by a veterinarian. When applying first aid to any cuts, make sure that the animal is muzzled. Flush the affected area with enough water to remove any dirt and debris. If the cut is draining, moist and has inflammation around the edges after 3 days, call for veterinary help.

Burns & Scalds

As for people — cold water followed by neat lavender oil, as soon as possible.

Coat in Poor Condition

Add 1/4 tsp of the following blend to each feed:

1 Tbsp Olive oil
1 Tdsp Wheatgrem oil
5 drops Carrot oil
5 drops Evening primrose oil

Cuts & Bites

Put a solution of:

salt water
2 drops thyme
1 drop lavender

Then bathe the area.

Cysts

Apply:

1 drop lavender or
1 drop Tea Tree

Ear Problems

Drop & Massage around the ear

1 drop Tea Tree
1 drop Lavender
1 drop Chamomile
1 tsp Warm olive oil
