QUESTION

“I am interested in any product that will help with my dog’s change in behavior. She was once very friendly to both humans as well as other dogs. Now she just barks at all humans, won’t go near them and will not play with other dogs at all. I’m quite concerned. Do you have a product that will help her get back to what she once was? Thanks” -Burt

She has also lost weight. She took several steroid shots for allergies this summer and everything I ‘ve read on the internet lead me to believe she may be developing Diabetes. Question:

Six months ago I adopted a two year old dog. He is a well-mannered animal except for the Anxiety he suffers when we leave him alone. He doesn’t destroy things or go to the bathroom in the house or even bark, but he shakes excessively whenever he knows we’re going to leave the house and he cries.

I’d Like to Take My Dog Off of Rimadyl

Posted: Friday, November 9th, 2007 @ 9:05 am in Pet Health Q & A, Dogs & Puppies | 4 Comments »

Question from Melissa:

“I have a 12 year old Shepherd mix (possibly Lab). After reading all the side affects of Rimadyl and other medications, I’m looking to give him something more natural that won’t kill him if it doesn’t really do the job. His weight is between 65-70 pounds. He still acts like a puppy when we get home and still doesn’t hesitate to jump on the couch, but he’s slow to get up now and has the shaky back legs. He doesn’t seem to be in any pain yet but does pant more now. He still loves to go out for walks but does tire sooner than he did in the past. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.”

Question from Lauri:

“After the pet food scare I’ve been doing research on all the things that are actually harmful to my beloved dogs. I want to give them the best life possible. I have a 1-1/2 year old male yellow lab and a 1 year old Basenji mix that we adopted (don’t know what she’s a mix of). They are both spayed/neutered.

Common cures for ear mites in cats

Posted: Thursday, October 11th, 2007 @ 10:05 am in Pet Health Q & A, Cats & Kittens | 6 Comments »

Of all the organs in the body of a cat, skin and ears are the most vulnerable. While Skin Conditions are more visible, an infection in the ear requires keen observation and can be detected only if you are regular and observant while grooming your pet cat or dog.

Ear Mites live by tunneling into the ear canal of cats. The automatic response of the cat’s body is to produce more wax to combat the invasion by cat Ear Mites. Severe infections give rise to an offensive smell. If not attended to in time Ear Mites can lead to secondary infections in cats.

My Lab is Having Problems With Ear Wax and Odor

Posted: Thursday, August 24th, 2006 @ 6:43 pm in Pet Health Q & A | No Comments »

Question:

I am looking for a product that I can use on my 11 yr old black lab's ears. She has an ongoing problem with ear wax and odor. We have tried everything from warm Olive Oil, saline, white vinegar, warm soapy water, and used an ear shringe to suction out the ear wax, but her canals are so deep it seems like we never get enough out to even get her comfortable. Is there anything we can use to melt away the wax or thin it out to get it out? She is having trouble hearing due to this issue.
