Birds are very sensitive creatures and can easily get Stressed by changes to their environment. Parties and gatherings, especially around the holidays, can bring lots of noise and Stress into your birds’ environment. Here are a few tips to help Polly feel contented during the chaos:

  • Avoid high traffic areas - don’t put your bird “in the line of fire”. This means away from doorways, noisy areas full of guests, and the blaring television, etc.

The African Grey parrot is the most popular pet parrot kept today. They are extraordinary speakers and are also very lovable and sweet. However, they do require lots of love, patience and time. Make sure they are the right bird for you.

The African Grey parrot originates from Central Africa. It is medium grey in color and the feathers on the head have white edging. It also has a bright red tail and a solid black beak.

The Benefits of Large Bird Cages

In order to be comfortable, birds need ample space in order to be comfortable. It should be able to spread its wings easily and move from perch to perch. Like all of us, birds need exercise. It stands to reason, then, that larger or more active birds need large bird cages.

A macaw, for example, needs a cage that is at least three feet long and five feet wide! Amazons, African grays, conures, and cockatoos also require large bird cages, though not as large as the macaw. Before making such a purchase, make sure that you have enough space available in your home.
