Generally, Cancer occurs in older animals. Cats are destined to live long and the price they pay for it shows in the increased incidence of Feline Cancer.
Symptoms of Cancer in cats and dogs do not present themselves in early stages. It requires a keen observation for an early detection and treatment. For example, the symptoms of liver cancer in dogs need to be evaluated after considering other conditions that throw up similar symptoms.
Cells normally multiply by division in a pattern. Initially there is a continuous increase in cells to achieve an optimal level of growth in cats. Once a particular level is achieved cell multiplication is automatically curbed and new cells are formed to replace dead cells. Certain unknown conditions cause cells to ‘rebel’ and multiply even when the body does not need them.

1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup unbleached flour
1 package yeast — 1/4 ounce
1 cup chicken broth — warmed
1 tablespoon honey
1. Preheat oven to 375°.
2. In large bowl combine the whole wheat flour with the yeast. Add 2/3 cup chicken broth and honey and beat for about 3 minutes. Gradually add the remaining flour. Knead the dough for a few minutes until smooth and moist, but not wet (use reserve broth as necessary).
3. Cover the dough and let it rest for about 5 minutes. Divide the dough into about 15-20 pieces, rolling each piece into a smooth ball. Punch a hole into each ball with your finger or end of spoon and gently pull the dough so the hole is about an 1/2″ wide. Don’t be too fussy here, the little bagels rise into shape when they bake.

Ringworm is a very common form of skin disease that is found in both dogs and cats. Although its name makes you think otherwise, this skin disease isn’t caused by any type of worm. It’s actually caused by fungi known as Dermatophytes that feed on dead tissues found in the surface of the skin, spreading them around the skin of the animal.
With cats, there is a certain type of fungi known as M Canis that is found with nearly 95% of all Ringworm cases. Normally, cats will get the Ringworm disease from contaminated objects like bedding, clippers, or another animal that already has the disease. If there are animals in your home or around your house that have the ringworm disease, your cat could very easily contract it this way.

Intestinal cancer throws up symptoms that are similar to symptoms caused by an Inflammation or obstruction in the intestinal passage. This makes early detection a difficult task. Although they form a small percentage of all feline Cancers and Cancers in dogs, prognosis ranges from poor to bad depending upon the location of the tumor.
The common types of Cancers that can develop in a cat’s intestines include:
* Lymphoma - A neoplasm of lymph tissue that is most predominant in cats.
* Mast Cell Neoplasia – A cancer that causes single or multiple lesions in the small intestines.
* Adenocarcinoma – A Malignant tumor that originates from the glandular epithelium.
* Other Intestinal Neoplasms such as rectal and colon Tumors.
Lymphoma is the most common form of intestinal Tumors in cats followed by carcinomas and mast cell Tumors. The question what causes Cancer has been one of the most frustrating questions for scientists involved in Cancer research. Despite huge amounts of funding and resource being spent on the subject, there is still an element of doubt behind what causes Cancer. At the most we know what the risk factors are because most of the causes carry an element of doubt along with them.
An important risk factor behind the development of lung cancer in humans is cigarette smoking. But cigarette smoking does not cause cancer on its own because there is strong evidence of many heavy smokers who do not develop cancer. Genetic predisposition and a change in genetic messages caused by carcinogens combine to cause cancer. For example, age may be one factor that has been identified.

The spleen in the body is the storehouse of blood. It also functions as an organ for destroying old red blood cells and holding blood for emergencies. It is an important part of the body’s Immune System. Located just below the stomach, in emergencies such as a hemorrhage, it springs into action to provide blood for replenishing the loss. Even though life can be normal without a spleen, its absence, however, predisposes infections.
The spleen constitutes of a red soft surface containing two different types of pulp - white and red. While the red pulp functions as a mechanical filter removing unwanted substances from the blood, the white pulp helps to fight infections.
A growth in the spleen signifies abnormality and the presence of Cancer cells needs to be investigated. A growth leading from the red pulp is usually a rare Malignant neoplasm characterized by rapidly proliferating anaplastic cells known as hemagiosarcoma. It is derived from blood vessels lining blood-filled spaces.
