What is Diabetes?

Diabetes is a disease of the Pancreas that affects the body’s ability to control its Blood Sugar Levels. The Pancreas is responsible for producing a hormone called insulin which keeps Blood Sugar Levels balanced.

Glucose is produced from the breaking down of starches and carbohydrates. It is absorbed through the wall of the Digestive Tract and passes into the bloodstream.

Insulin allows glucose to leave the bloodstream and enter the body’s tissue where it is then used as energy for the cells. With Diabetes, the body either produces insufficient quantities of insulin or does not utilize insulin effectively. Glucose then builds up in the bloodstream and causes an elevated blood sugar level.

High levels of glucose can lead to a number of complications such as cataracts, liver and kidney disease, increased infections, Heart Disease, gastrointestinal disorders and even coma and death.

Ringworm - Ewww! Just the name conjures up images of a long worm weaving a ring under your skin. In fact, Ringworm is not a worm at all, it is actually caused by a fungus which is highly contagious.

In humans, Ringworm is a ring shaped red rash on the skin, but in your pet it can look like most anything. A common human form of ringworm is otherwise known as athletes foott. Dogs and cats are susceptible to three forms of ringworm, and your cat can pass ringworm on to you, although only a small percentage of human cases are caused by the same fungus that infects dogs and cats.

The people who have the highest chance of catching ringworm from their pet are young children, the Elderly and people with a weak Immune System. Most people will develop an immunity and therefore will rarely contract the same strain again.

After trying various methods over the years, the best one I have found is to simply rub your dog vigorously with hay. You can even convince the dog to roll himself in it! I have no idea why this works but it does!

3 teaspoons (tsp) = 1 tablespoon (tbls)
2 tablespoons (tbls) = 1 ounce (oz)
6 teaspoons (tsp) = 1 ounce (oz)
10 milliliter (ml) = 1/3 oz.
15 milliliter (ml) = 1/2 oz.
30 milliliter (ml) = 1 oz.
10 milliliter (ml) = approximately 300 drops

Generally 2 drops of Essential Oil should be used per Tsp of Carrier Oil (but follow individual recipes if available.

Generally it takes from 1 to 2 oz of Carrier Oil for a full body massage.

Generally you can use any kind of natural Carrier Oil except mineral oil. There are lots to choose from and each has their own properties.

For most applications, I prefer our own Massage Base. It’s a combination of Sweet Almond, Grapeseed and Jojoba oils.

Having a pet rabbit can be such a rewarding experience. But with all the breeds, sizes and colors, how do you select the rabbit that is just right for you? This article will help you select that perfect rabbit.

Choosing the right rabbit for you and your family can be a very exciting process. There are currently over 40 recognized breeds of rabbits. Many of the breeds have multiple varieties and colors. Rabbits range in size from 2 pounds to over 10 pounds. So the choices are very abundant.

Many breeders give different answers regarding the preferred gender for a pet rabbit. This is compounded by the individual temperament of the rabbit. Often a doe (girl rabbit) that is not spayed, can become territorial was she reaches maturity. She may nip at you when reaching for her or even her food or Water Dishes.

Many male down owners are reluctant to get their pets neutered. They have reasons that are, ironically enough, not due to the operating and surgical procedure of neutering, but rather because of several myths that float around. Unfortunately, most people accept these myths as facts.

Myth: “My dog will be upset with me for not ever having a sexual experience”. Canine sex drive has nothing emotional or romantic involved in it. It is purely instinctual and your dog cannot have any type of anger towards you for this. In addition, scientific studies show that dogs do not act out sexual behavior unless sexually stimulated. Believing this myth about your dog is simply an attitude of anthropomorphism.

Myth: “My dog will become wimpy and sad”. Having your dog neutered will have absolutely no effect on his strength. His stamina will also remain strong and resilient. And above all, your male dog might actually prove to be a happier one when all of those sexual frustrations have been quelled by the neutering surgery.

Since parrots are very intelligent, curious and social, traveling with them is quite safe and fun. Like all other birds, they also love to see the outside world and taking them on trips is a rewarding experience. But, you might have heard that a lot of pet birds get lost or meet an accident every year while they are on a trip.

Parrots are prey and they get scared very easily. Although you may be able to recover your lost bird doing so can be quite stressful for both you and your bird. So, there are certain things that you should remember while taking the bird on a trip.

- Train your parrot to get used to a bird Carrier. It is very important for keeping your parrot safe and reducing the bird’s Stress as many others also travel with you. If you are traveling by car, then keep the Carrier safely at the back because the impact of an exploding air bag in an accident can kill your parrot.
